2006 SUVs Have Great Incentives, as 2007 Models Move Into the Showrooms

Author: Lance Winslow

Every year about this time automotive dealers around the country start getting in the latest new models for the next year. And every year they offer incentives to get rid of the prior year's models. This is happening right now as the 2006 models go on sale to make way for the 2007 models, which will be moving into the showrooms at the auto dealerships. Unfortunately many of these sales incentives have sparked new interest in SUVs and that means people are now interested in the new 2007 SUVs as well.

You may be thinking that this is great; I'd like to go look at the new 2007 models. Indeed, and perhaps you would however, there is another problem these incentives are hurting the biofuel initiatives set forth to help America a breaker addiction to foreign oil. The government of the United States of America is set on growing her own fuel. Such sales incentives can spark a renewed competitive response and price war between automakers and in this means more cars will be in demand, which are gas guzzling.

With greater consumer demand for SUVs this will cause lower profits in other models and hybrids, mean there will be less research and development dollars for these new technologies and it that includes alternative fuel vehicles as well. Currently both General Motors and Ford Motor Co. are building E85 Ethanol vehicles, but unfortunately they are building more regular gasoline models to meet demand. This is slowing the progress of the plan to switch to more biofuels and it is adding time to the future changing of the trends needed for America to breaker addiction to foreign oil. Please consider this in 2006.
