One of the latest and greatest of all NASCAR tracks is the one you will find in charming Fontana, California. Opening in 1997, this track has proven itself as very competitive time and time again. The Auto Club 500 is a 500 mile NASCAR Nextel Cup stock car race held every year at the California Speedway. The race consists of 250 laps around the two-mile track. The Auto Club 500 is one of two races held at the California Speedway, the other is the Sony HD 500. Before 2005, the Auto Club 500 race was held in May. When the NASCAR realignment was made, the race was moved to February.
