Anniversary rings are usually given between married couples on their wedding date some years after the event. By exchanging these rings couples reaffirm their commitment and affection for one another and their determination to make the marriage work. However some rings are given to workers on the anniversary of their first day on the job or their big anniversaries of being on the job, such as ten, twenty or fifty years.

These rings can be made of just about any kind of metal, although the more popular types of metals are gold, silver, platinum, titanium and steel. Often these rings are made to look very similar to wedding rings, but as an anniversary present they can also be more elaborate and informal.

Of the more decorative of anniversary rings, interlocking rings are fun and carry symbolism for the wearer. They are usually made of three separate smaller rings that interlock in order to form a larger ring. The symbolism can be working together to solve problems, that the two of you fit to make a greater whole, or that you are bound to him or her in love and commitment.

Anniversary rings are also engraved with messages in the inside of the band, although sometimes one can be found with a message engraved on the outside of the band for all to see. The messages engraved on the inside are usually private and meant to be shared between the couple and, well, the engraver of course. Typical messages are, love you, eternally yours, so and so forever, and the date of the anniversary or number of years the couple has been together. There are lots of couples who get something unusual and only understood between the two of them engraved on the inside of their rings, which for example could be their nicknames for each other.
