Fitness For Golf Exercise Tips You Need To Know

Author: Mike Pedersen

With the increase in popularity of fitness for golf, exercise tips for golfers are critical. Just going down to your local gym and using the machines doesn't necessarily mean you will improve your golf swing and game. In fact, doing that may hurt it not help it.

Golf Strength Tips To Remember

Improve your golf strength with exercises and movements that mimic your golf swing. When you plop down on a machine in the gym and work "one muscle", do you think it will mimic any part of your golf swing?

Make sure the speed of movement is controlled, but of higher speed, since your golf swing can be up to 100 mph. But it is very important to make sure you are using proper technique at all times.

Do many of the exercises on your feet, and even in your golf posture if possible. This will give you a direct correlation to your golf swing.

Golf Stretching Tips

Stretch your golf muscles similar to your golf swing. The golf swing is rotational, so incorporate as many rotational stretches as possible.

Stretching your backswing muscles, your follow through muscles and the muscles involved with your golf posture like your hamstrings, lower back and glutes will give you your biggest bang for your buck.

Make a lot of your stretches dynamic (movement oriented) just like your golf swing.

Golf Fitness Program Tips

Always have a balance of strength and stretching throughout any golf fitness program. So many golfers think that any strength training will cause them to bulk up. Not true! When you strengthen and stretch in the same session, you get the best of both.

Success Tips

To be successful you have to be diligent with it. You need to be consistent and put forth the effort or your return will be minimal. Don't waste your time. Make the commitment and you will be overjoyed on the course.

Ease into a golf fitness program. Don't go from zero days to 7 per week. You will be setting yourself up for failure. Prove to yourself you can do a couple of golf fitness sessions per week. Then slowly move it up to a schedule you can stick with.

I hope these golf fitness tips have been helpful. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read this article and hope you get started right away.
