Maui - Travel Tips - Planning Your trip

Author: Tony Talbott

Traveling to Maui? Here's important considerations to help make your trip great and easy.

1.) When To Go - Off season is great for better rates and less crowded conditions. However high season has the advantage of being either easier to arrange or, if you are coming from the North, to opportunity to leave inclement weather.

2.) Seasons - High season is typically winter and summer. Low season (lower rates, less crowds) is May, early June, September and October.

3.) Best Weather - Fortunately for Maui, it is great weather year round, with temperatures in the low 80's. There are generally two areas of the island - a wetter side (more rain) and dry side. March tends to have more rainfall than other months, but there is not enough for it to be a concern.

4.) Areas of Maui Briefly there are 8 areas:

- Hana, beautiful, more rain, remote

- Wailea, High end, great weather, accommodations, excellent beaches, golf

- Kapalua, High end, a little more wind, nice accommodations, golf

- Kaanapali/Lahaina, moderately priced, beaches, golf, busy, lots of activities

- Wailuku/Kahului, local residents, business, county offices, airport

- Up Country, higher elevation, cooler, nice different country world

- Kihei, affordable accommodation, activities

- Maalaea, harbor

5.) Types of accommodations

- Hotels, full service, smaller rooms, no kitchens

- Vacation Rentals, large accommodations, full kitchen

- Home Exchange less expensive, but difficult to arrange

This was article one, the remaining reports will cover the other things to consider when traveling to Maui, and help make your trip easy and fun.
